I really hate goodbyes. I think they can be drawn out and unnecessary. When someone says goodbye, they make it seem no one is ever going to see them again and you wind up missing them more.
When you don't say goodbye, or at least make it less obvious, it feels like you have never been gone when you get back and no one feels like a part of them has been missing.
This is why I do not always say good bye. I think there is a time and place for it, but long absences from home do not warrent it. It is never anything personal, but I generally will not say good bye unless its for a very long absense.
